Professor Lars Bolund got his MD and DMSc degrees from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He has been working in genetics research since 1964, holding positions in many countries, including Sweden, Britain, USA, Denmark and P.R.China. He started his career as a Professor of Clinical Genetics at University of Aarhus in the year 1967. Then he continued to career as Senior Advisor and Adjunct Professor of the Beijing Genomics Institute in the year 1999. He was honoured with prizes like “The Foundation of 1870†Research Prize at 1987, Honorary Professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at 1998; Knight of the Royal Order of Dannebrog at 1985; Knight of the 1st class of the Royal Order of Dannebrog at 1998 and honoured with the Chinese National Friendship Award in connection with the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, 2009. He has 41 years as a professor and currently his researches are into the sequencing of genes and regenerative medicine. Now he became the President of the “BGI / Lars Bolund Institute of Regenerative Medicineâ€, Qingdao/Weifang, China. He has more than 400 scientific publications and patents in the field of genome/gene structure and function in cell biology and medical genetics, molecular cell pathology of complex diseases, development of genetically designed animal models of complex disease processes, somatic cell/gene therapy and other forms of regenerative medicine.
